Kid Approved Gluten Free Recipes

May 3, 2021

Serving three meals a day, plus snacks and dessert, for your kids can get repetitive, especially if you’re looking for gluten free ideas. These gluten free breakfast and gluten free dessert options are not only nutritious, but they’re kid-approved as well! We know how important it is for your gluten free meals for kids to be easy and tasty, so we’ve rounded up five of the best to help jumpstart your breakfast and dessert prep.

Funky Monkey Banana Chocolate Quesadillas

This recipe is a hit for anytime of day, but especially breakfast and dessert. The healthy almond butter combined with bananas, chocolate, and our Gluten Free Original Tortilla Wraps will entice your kids with flavor and fill them up with goodness. Assembly is also easy enough to make these on short notice for busy mornings or an afternoon dessert. Simply spread almond butter on one side of a tortilla, then top with sliced bananas, crushed almonds, and chocolate chips. Fold over and fry on medium heat for several minutes on each side until golden brown (and the chocolate chips have begun to melt!). Serve as-is or with a few extra chocolate chips on top for fun.

Steak & Eggs Breakfast Burrito

If you have kids who love a traditional, hearty breakfast, offer this healthier alternative using our Gluten Free Original Tortilla Wraps and delicious fillings. You can pre-cook the sirloin steak, scrambled eggs, and hashbrowns the night before so that these burritos are easy to assemble on a busy weekday morning. Simply warm the tortillas in a skillet for 20-30 seconds on each side, then layer your steak, eggs, hashbrowns, and cheese before rolling everything up. Your kids will fill up on a nutritious breakfast that was easy for you to make! That’s a win-win.

Churro Cheesecake Taquitos

These crispy, creamy taquitos make the perfect gluten-free dessert, and your kids will beg for more every time! They take a bit of effort to prepare, so whip up a double batch to save yourself the trouble of doing it all again tomorrow! Start off by warming and then deep-frying our naturally gluten-free Street Tacos White Corn Tortillas. Sprinkle the fried tortillas with a homemade cinnamon and sugar mixture, then set aside to cool. In the meantime, make your cheesecake filling by whipping cream cheese for several minutes until fluffy; then combine with cinnamon, powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy whipping cream. Pipe this decadent mixture into your fried tortillas, then top with a dollop of whipped cream!

Fruity Feta Tostada

For a colorful and delicious option that is healthy enough for breakfast (but fun enough for dessert!) try these fruity feta tostadas. Toss whatever fruit you’d like with some natural Greek yogurt – pineapple, blueberries, and raspberries make an especially tasty combination. The Greek yogurt adds a lot of protein to this dish, so you can feel confident that the kids aren’t just filling up on sugar. Stack the yogurt-fruit mix on our naturally gluten-free Baked Tostadas for a crispy finish every time!

Gluten Free Tortilla Pizza

If your kids love pizza as much as ours do, then you know they’d eat it for every meal! These delicious gluten free pizzas are fun to make and packed with quintessential pizza flavors. Start by layering marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese between two of our Gluten Free Original Tortilla Wraps; bake for 3 to 5 minutes until you can tell that the cheese has melted in the middle. Call the kids in to help with the next step – choosing toppings! Sprinkle more sauce and cheese on top, then allow the kids to add their favorites like pepperoni and mushrooms; if you’re using these as breakfast pizzas, try a bacon and sausage combination! Bake again for 8 to 10 minutes until everything is bubbly and golden brown.

Whether you’re looking for an innovative breakfast or a delicious dessert, these tasty gluten free meals are sure to be a hit with all the kids in your home – big and small!
