Shrimp Taco Recipes Full of Authentic Flavor

April 6, 2021

Shrimp tacos, or ceviche, are a surefire way to feel like you’re at the beach no matter where you’re dining. Beyond its fresh, sea-inspired flavor, shrimp is full of protein, vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids--plus, it’s delicious! This summer, we’re channeling the beach with these ten shrimp recipes from the best of Mission’s culinary collections.

Shrimp & Zucchini Tacos

This shrimp recipe is top of the Better For You category with its Organic Whole Wheat Tortilla base and fresh vegetables. It guides you through how to prepare your red salsa with Roma tomatoes, roasted onion, garlic, cilantro, and chicken or vegetable stock. Then sauté onion, zucchini, and shrimp in cumin for your hearty but fresh taco filling.

Shrimp and Chorizo Nachos

Prepare the chorizo for this recipe first, then sauté your shrimp in the chorizo drippings to give it some of that signature heat. To assemble the nachos, layer Rounds Tortilla Chips in an oven-safe skillet, top with half your chorizo and shrimp combination and cheese, then repeat. Bake for 5 minutes in a 350-degree oven, just long enough to prepare your sour cream topper with a squeeze of fresh lime juice. Top the nachos with sour cream mixture, chopped tomatoes, and cilantro--this communal dish is perfect for a party appetizer or a family dinner!

Sheet Pan Shrimp Tacos

This is the shrimp taco recipe made for busy moms (or dads!). It takes just 10 minutes to prep and 10 minutes to cook, and you have a sheet pan full of Better For You shrimp taco filling. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees and toss together shrimp, bell pepper, onion, oil, chili powder, cumin, oregano, and salt. Roast until the shrimp are opaque, and vegetables are just tender. Warm a set of 8 Mission Soft Taco Flour Tortillas and serve! Personalize the meal with your family’s favorite taco toppings like cilantro, salsa, or sour cream.

Tandoori Shrimp Tacos

Marinating shrimp may require an additional time commitment, but it pays off with packed-in flavor! Coat these shrimp in a mixture of yogurt, curry powder, garlic, ginger, paprika, turmeric, and salt, then refrigerate for 4-6 hours. Just before dinnertime, preheat your oven and bake the shrimp for 8 minutes. Serve with warmed Mission Street Tacos Flour Tortillas, chopped mango, and cilantro.

Spicy Shrimp Cocktail Wraps

When you want the no-fuss version of your happy hour shrimp cocktail, try these wraps. They’re a blend of simple, spicy, and portable that’s great for a packed lunch. For the cocktail sauce, combine mayonnaise, chili sauce, lemon juice, and hot pepper sauce. Then, stir in chopped cooked shrimp, celery, and onion. Line Mission Jalapeño Cheddar Wraps with lettuce, top with your shrimp mixture, and roll. Done!

Baked Tostadas with Shrimp

Another quick shrimp recipe that packs a punch, these tostadas use cooked cocktail shrimp marinated in mango, tomato, chili, cilantro, and orange juice. Simply marinate at lunchtime, and it’s ready for dinner! Serve on Mission Baked Tostadas and garnish with lettuce and avocado.

Shrimp Ceviche with Avocado

For this bright, citrusy ceviche, we recommend soaking your red onions in water for a few minutes first to reduce the sharpness of their bite. Then combine cooked shrimp, lemon juice, lime juice, orange juice, serrano chili peppers, salt, and red onion in a glass mixing bowl and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours. About 15-20 minutes before serving, toss in some chopped cilantro, avocado, cucumber, and tomatoes, then serve with Mission’s Thin and Crispy Tortilla Chips. Your guests won’t be able to get enough!

Blackened Shrimp Nachos

Organic Blue Corn Tortilla Chips give these nachos extra flair, and blackening spices give the shrimp a Cajun-style spice. While preheating the oven, sear your shrimp in a skillet over medium-high heat. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and cover with tortilla chips. Top with the blackened shrimp, sweet pepper, and cheddar cheese and bake for 7-10 minutes. Then, prep the guacamole salsa with diced tomatoes, onion, cilantro, and lime juice. Finally, mash your avocados and combine them with the tomato mixture.

Spinach Artichoke & Shrimp Quesadillas

When you want gooey, savory cheese with your shrimp, these quesadillas hit the spot. Spread artichoke dip on Gluten Free Original Tortilla Wraps, then top with chopped shrimp and mozzarella. Fold the tortilla in half and brown on both sides in the skillet. Serve with chunky salsa for a fresh accent.

Cajun Shrimp Wraps

This recipe is loaded with flavor and spice and wrapped in a Mission Soft Taco Whole Wheat Tortilla. To make the filling, bake your shrimp with cajun seasoning at 450 degrees and sauté onions and peppers until soft. For the sauce, whisk together yogurt, Cajun seasoning, paprika, hot sauce, and minced garlic. Line the tortilla wraps with lettuce and top with filling and sauce. Wrap and enjoy!
