Summertime Fish Taco Recipes

The home of fish tacos is said to be Ensenada, Mexico. This seaport city attracted Ralph Rubio for a Spring Break visit in 1973. While there, Ralph fell for the fish taco, eating them daily and asking a local stand owner for the recipe. Years later, he opened his first restaurant popularizing the fish taco in California with his chain of Rubio's Restaurants. 

Today, fish tacos can be found in restaurants and food trucks across the United States. They’re also a popular meal to cook at home, and for good reasons! Fish Tacos are perfect for summertime lunches and dinners as a lighter dish packed with protein. Fish also goes well with fresh herbs, veggies, and fruits. Here are some of our favorite recipes:

New to fish tacos? This Easy Fish Taco Recipe is perfect for those just beginning their cooking journey. A mild fish of your choice is marinated in a cinnamon, nutmeg, paprika, salt, pepper, and oil rub then broiled in the oven for 3-5 minutes. Drizzle the fish with lime juice and place into warmed Super Soft Taco Flour Tortillas with cabbage, cilantro, and hot sauce.

The Blackened Baja Fish Tacos is a classic Baja-style recipe with a gluten-free twist. Dredge cod or other white fish in gluten free flour and seasonings including paprika and pepper. Then heat in a cast-iron pan for the blackened effect. Serve in a heated Gluten Free Tortilla topped with a slaw mixture of cabbage, jalapenos, cilantro, mayo, and lime juice. 

For these refreshing Fish Tacos with Mojo Sauce the mojo sauce is made by sauteing garlic in oil and then adding in fresh squeezed lime or orange juice and salt. The recipe recommends using mahi-mahi or salmon filets that are grilled with coconut oil and seasoned with salt and pepper. Serve on heated Street Tacos White Corn Tortillas with a bed of mixed greens and cilantro.

The Dairy Free Fish Tacos with Chipotle Aioli delivers a spicy kick with a creamy topping. Rub a mixture of cumin, chili powder, paprika, onion, garlic, salt and oil into a pound of white fish. Then skillet-fry for three to four minutes per side. The aioli sauce is made by mixing together an egg, an egg yolk, oil, lemon juice, chipotle adobe sauce and garlic. Serve on Organic Whole Wheat Tortillas with the aioli sauce and a homemade coleslaw of shredded cabbage, lime juice, oil, salt and pepper. Low Carb Fish Tacos with Avocado Crema are made by baking cod or another firm white fish that has been marinated in oil, paprika, cumin, onion powder, and oregano. Avocado crema is a perfect match with fish tacos! Make it by mixing ripe avocado with sour cream, cilantro, lime juice, salt and pepper.
